Bilfinger Salamis UK continues contract success with Marathon award

June 06, 2013

Bilfinger Salamis UK has been awarded a major contract by Marathon Oil U.K. LLC to provide a full range of platform industrial and fabric maintenance services on the company’s North Sea platforms.

The flagship contract, effective from June 1, runs for three years, with the potential to be extended by a further period of up to two years.

The contract builds on the company’s existing relationship with Marathon Oil, who Bilfinger Salamis UK has worked with in the North Sea for the last 15 years

Services provided on the Brae Alpha, Brae Bravo and East Brae platforms will include the supply of deck crews, rigging, electrical maintenance, GRP door maintenance and materials control. Bilfinger Salamis UK will also provide inspection work on the assets.

This work secures continuity of employment for 130 Salamis employees, both offshore, and within Marathon Oil‘s project support team onshore.

In recent years, Bilfinger Salamis UK has successfully worked closely with Marathon Oil on its power generation upgrade project, Devenick subsea tie-back project, and annual platform turnarounds.

COO Mike McKay said Bilfinger Salamis UK are delighted to have secured the contract extension.

"We see this contract award as an opportunity to invest further in our people and equipment assigned to Marathon Oil and further cement our long term working relationship.

"The contract award to Bilfinger Salamis builds on our existing track record, relationships and knowledge of the assets in a seamless manner without disruption to crews work plans or safety culture.

"This award will allow us to work in partnership with Marathon Oil to continue to deliver the integrated services portfolio, whilst providing the opportunity to introduce new technologies and innovative solutions to meet Marathon Oil‘s requirements and deliver added value.

"We would take this opportunity to thank the Bilfinger Salamis team supporting Marathon Oil both on- and offshore for their ongoing commitment, knowledge and delivery and recognise their efforts in retaining an excellent safety record over their many years working on the Marathon Oil assets, all of which has contributed to this important award."

The contract award follows recent major contract wins for Bilfinger Salamis UK with Shell UK and Chevron Upstream Europe.
